Force the Pass retired to be first Wasabi Ventures Stallion

Grade 1-winning millionaire Force the Pass has been retired from racing and will enter stud in
Maryland in 2020 as the property of T.K. Kuegler’s Wasabi Ventures Stallions, LLC, who
recently acquired the son of Speightstown from his owner/breeder Richard Santulli.

It’s that time of year again!
Time to begin planning stallion promotions for the 2020 breeding season.

The Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Stallion Directory will be available in early December, giving stallion managers the opportunity to reach potential breeders early in their decision-making process.

No other Thoroughbred publication, national or regional, provides comparable penetration of the Mid-Atlantic region – over 6,500 owners, breeders and trainers, all active in the business of raising and racing Thoroughbreds. Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred is the only magazine created solely for the purpose of providing Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred breeders, owners and trainers with information vital to their industry. Every member of every Mid-Atlantic state’s Thoroughbred breeder and owner associations plus Ohio, owners and trainers licensed by racing commissions in the Mid-Atlantic region, and the National Steeplechase Association, receive the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred.

Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred was recognized with six American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards for material published in 2018 at the High Desert Roundup conference on Saturday, June 1, in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Comeback Kid: Stallion Super Ninety Nine rebounds from injuries, gets three quick winners

Racehorses came and went in all directions – leaving the barn to gallop, to breeze, to run around in paddocks, to race even. But the flashy chestnut with the wide blaze just hung around. Some days, he got to stand in the cold tub. Other days, he got to stand in the hyperbaric chamber. Every once in a while, somebody came by to check on his left hind leg.

All along he never caused a problem. Not bad for an 8-year-old stallion who was supposed to be back on the farm breeding mares. 

Country Life Farm’s Super Ninety Nine spent four months at Fair Hill Equine Therapy Center recovering from an infection in his left hind suspensory that cost him basically the entire 2018 breeding season. His 2019 crop will include, at most, one foal. While it will impact his stud career, the injury could have had far worse consequences.

Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred honored at 2018 AHP Conference

Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred, the monthly magazine published by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association covering Thoroughbred racing and breeding in the region, was recognized with nine awards for material published in 2017 from the American Horse Publications on the evening of Saturday, June 16, in Hunt Valley, Md.

Two first-place awards were presented – one for editorial and one in photography.
